Art Exhibition Submissions

Exhibition submission process overview

Wonky Wheel is currently seeking artists and makers for our 2026 and 2027 exhibition program. We welcome applications from gallery-ready artists and makers based in Essex, Suffolk, and Cambridge, including emerging artists and recent graduates.

Wonky Wheel Gallery specialises in paintings, limited edition prints, ceramics, glass, textiles & jewellery, and gicleé prints. Sorry but we will not consider photography at this time.

How to Apply

To submit your application, you’ll need to provide four key pieces of information:

  • Artist’s Bio: A brief professional biography highlighting your artistic journey
  • Description of your work: A clear description of your work, artistic vision, and creative process
  • Artist’s Profile: A high-quality image of you, the artist behind your brand
  • Product images: High-quality images of your work, labeled with title, medium, and dimensions

The Review Process

After we receive your submission, we review it carefully along with all other applications. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we can’t always reply to everyone or provide personalised feedback.

If your application is successful, we’ll invite you to book an “Artist Meeting” with Mary to discuss your application in more detail and walk you through our terms and conditions. During this meeting, we may have questions about your work and will explain how we work with artists.

If you’re happy to proceed after the meeting, we’ll arrange to visit your studio to select work in person. There is always some flexibility around this part of the process.

We recommend visiting our gallery space in Castle Hedingham first to ensure your work aligns with our other represented artists and to understand our space before applying.

Overview of our Terms and Conditions

Location of each exhibition:
Our exhibitions are held at our new location in Castle Hedingham, unless you are specifically asked to display your work at another event curated by Wonky Wheel.

Does the artist set the price?
Yes, the artist determines the selling price. Wonky Wheel will not offer any discounts unless previously agreed with the artist.

Do the artworks still belong to the artist until they are sold?
Yes, all artwork remains the property of the artist until they are sold or returned.

Who promotes the artwork?
At Wonky Wheel, we see it as a partnership. We continually adapt our strategies as social media evolves, agreeing on a marketing plan with you. This can include:

‘Meet the Artist’ events where the artist is present at the exhibition for a few hours on one of the three public days and at the preview evening, answering any questions about your artwork.

The artist promoting their own artwork at Wonky Wheel on social media, and re-sharing posts made by Wonky Wheel.

When does the artist get paid following a sale?
The artist will receive payment at the agreed date given at your Artists Meeting prior to the exhibition, along with paperwork showing what has been sold.

Do you provide feedback at the end of the Exhibition?
Yes. Feedback is given after the exhibition review, and we ask artists to complete a feedback questionnaire at the end of the exhibition as well.

What else do you need from the artist?
We also ask for a bio. We’re always interested in the story behind the artwork, so when you submit your consignment sheet, we ask you to describe your artwork, these details can bring your art to life for a customer.

How many products do I need to supply to the gallery?
This is discussed in our “initial “Artist Meeting” exhibition meetings and depends on the types of products and their sizes.

What do you need to know about my products?
Please provide high-resolution images (minimum 1280 x 1920 pixels) and detailed product descriptions (250–300 words minimum). Additional images and information are welcome. Submit all materials electronically through our consignment form, and upload on the form. All artwork must arrive in presentable condition with proper hanging systems installed. We will not accept artwork that arrives in unsellable condition.

What happens if artwork is damaged or stolen while in the gallery?
This is covered by Wonky Wheel’s insurance and the artist will be notified immediately.

Who is responsible for collecting the artwork for the gallery?
Ideally, we prefer the artist to deliver the artwork to the exhibition space. This allows us to cross-reference the items with the inventory sheets you’ve submitted before arrival at the gallery.

Are there any “shelf fees” or other “fees” that you might have to pay?
While some galleries charge a shelf fee and/or exhibition fees, we do not.

Do I need to list Wonky Wheel on my website as a stockist?
Yes. Once Wonky Wheel has created your ‘Artist Page’ on our website, we’ll provide you with a unique URL for your Wonky Wheel artist page. We would appreciate it if you could add this URL to your website to indicate your collaboration with us.

Who pays for any shipping and packing costs?
Wonky Wheel covers any shipping and packing costs.

Can I also sell my artwork in other galleries or online?
Absolutely. While some galleries may require exclusivity arrangements, we understand that you may want to sell your artwork through other channels.

Is an inventory of what the artist has supplied made available to the artist once the work arrives at the gallery?
Yes, all artists receive an inventory list, which includes quantities, descriptions, selling prices, and sales forecasts.

Please note that the gallery space primarily consists of shelving and this is different to our Exhibition space. Therefore, the terms and conditions may vary. All terms and conditions will be discussed with you if your application is successful and you are invited to an artist meeting.
