Mingyu Du

‘I’m a potter, wife, and mother living in Cambridge, where creativity meets everyday life. Inspired by ancient vases at the British Museum and legends like Lucie Rie, I dream of crafting pieces that bring serenity to daily life.

My journey began by transforming our garage into a serene studio overlooking our Zen-inspired garden. Here, I pour love into each hand-thrown and hand-built piece, striving for minimal elegance that nourishes both body and soul.

In pursuit of the perfect matte hues, I’ve experimented with dozens of subtle glaze variations – whites, creams, and blacks – echoing the powerful impact of color on our emotions and spaces. This exploration has refined my aesthetic and deepened my connection to the pottery process.

Through my work, I invite you to find tranquility in the beauty of functional art. I hope my creations bring serenity to your daily life, just as they have to mine.’
