Deborah has lived in East Anglia since 1974 and now resides near Suffolk countryside. After earning a Diploma of Higher Education and working for the NHS, she became a professional artist in 2008, having developed her skills through classes and workshops while selling work and accepting commissions.
Inspired by landscapes and wildlife from her rural upbringing and artist father, Deborah authored “Whispers of the Landscape” (available on Amazon). She works primarily in acrylic with watercolour and ink, using colour and texture to modernize landscape and wildlife art. She teaches workshops and online courses, and is a member of the Ipswich Art Society and founding member of the Ipswich Visual Arts Community.
“Growing up in the countryside gave me understanding of wildlife and landscape. My father taught me about animals and birds during our walks through arable farmland, meadows with sheep, and fascinating tree copses.
The countryside is my inspiration. The perfect moment comes when light and subject evoke an emotional response—summer haze, post-snowfall hush, tree growth, birdsong, sun-dried grass, or wildlife traces. Often it’s scenery partially hidden by trees with light beyond. Photos alone aren’t enough; I must experience these moments personally.
These moments connect me to my deeper self and what I want to share through my art. My goal is to express this fully and allow viewers to feel it too—that would be true success.”
